A creative studio for brands people care about.

Good content gets seen. Great content gets saved and sent.

Where it started

We started with CRUMB — a café that became a cult favourite. Since then, we’ve started helping other brands cut through with clarity and creativity.

At Dear Studio, we believe in thoughtful work, strategic insight, and showing up with purpose. Our difference? We build brands people don’t just follow — they talk about, share, and remember.

We work with a small number of aligned clients at a time, by design. This isn’t mass production. It’s precision, with soul.

Dear Studio is new — but its roots run deep.

Founded by Kylie McDowell, the studio brings together over 15 years of global experience in content, strategy, and storytelling. From leading fashion campaigns and producing for the BBC to building cult-followed brands — every project is backed by a proven instinct for what resonates, and why.

Global experience. Local instinct.

Kylie’s background spans editorial, creative strategy, and brand partnerships across fashion, hospitality, architecture, and travel. Her work is grounded in sharp thinking and visual storytelling — with an ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling content.

She’s worked with global brands and publishers including:

Vogue, Amex, YSL, Lexus, Levi’s, Moto Guzzi, Australian Fashion Week, BBC StoryWorks, Converse, Qantas, Destination NSW, The Spaces, and The Lane.

The Spaces

For nearly 8 years, Kylie has worked as Editor-at-Large for architecture and design publication The Spaces, growing their @thespacesforsale Instagram from 0 to 147,000+ followers, with over 3M monthly views — organically.

She continues to lead the content strategy and editorial curation, helping position the platform as a benchmark in niche design media.

Converse Global (Boston)

As a Senior Content Strategist for Converse’s grassroots global marketing program, Kylie led campaign strategy and storytelling, collaborating with creative talent including Tyler, The Creator.

BBC StoryWorks (Singapore)

Kylie produced branded content for multi-market campaigns, shot across diverse international locations, delivering culturally tuned storytelling at scale.

The Lane (Byron Bay)

Most recently, she was Head of Global Fashion & Fine Jewellery Partnerships at The Lane, overseeing commercial business development for strategic partnerships with leading global brands in the luxury space.

Crumb (Newcastle)

CRUMB was the turning point. Kylie led the full brand and content strategy for this cult pastry café — from pre-launch to opening day and beyond. The result? Daily sell-outs, a distinctive online voice, and an audience that built itself.

It was the project that sparked the idea for Dear Studio — and the kind of work we want to keep doing: beautiful, strategic, culturally connected.

We bring this experience to every client we work with.
